The Centre Commercial Bab Ezzouar (Arabic: المركز التجاري لباب الزوار) is a shopping mall in Algiers, Algeria. It is currently owned by SCCA (Société des Centres Commerciaux d'Algérie SpA. Has 60,000 m² sales and leisure activities floor space on three floors, including a 7,000 m² hypermarket. On a 175-acre (0.71 km2) plot, 15 minutes from the town centre and 5 minutes from the Houari Boumedienne Airport, in the new business quarter Bab Ezzouar, a modern urban development project connected through motorway, railway station, bus and tram station, is now underway. The district also offers a 17-acre (69,000 m2) park.
The site is not far from an 85-acre (340,000 m2) industrial zone, and includes a university campus with 40'000 students and numerous blocks of flats. There is an adjoining conference centre accommodating 5,000 persons. As regards the other sites in the business quarter, either construction work has already started, or the buyers have come forward and are awaiting building permits : Hôtel Ibis, Air Algérie, BNP Paribas, Algérie Poste, CGM, Mobilis Telecom, Aigle Azur, Crédit Populaire d’Algérie.
The construction of the Centre Commercial Bab Ezzouar was in charge of the Swiss group Jelmoli [1]. The Construction began in May 2007 and was planned for completion in November 2008; however, after problems arose the mall opening was delayed until July 2009.
